Hacker-Craft is the name given to boats built by The Hacker Boat Co., the oldest builder of wooden motorboats in the world. It is an American company, founded in Detroit, Michigan in 1908 by John Ludwig Hacker (known as John L. Hacker or just “John L.”)
Baby Bootlegger 1924 – Gold Cup Racer
Baby Bootlegger is perhaps the most beautiful wooden boat ever built. She was designed by George Crouch and built by the Henry B. Nevins yard in City Island, NY for Wall Street bachelor, Caleb Bragg. Caleb Bragg was an ultimate sportsman, as the 70th licensed pilot in America, he pioneered speed records in the air and on land before turning to the water. After coming in second place overall, Baby Bootlegger won the 1924 Gold Cup race on a technicality, however, took home all the wins at the 1925 races on Long Island. Her Hispano Suiza aircraft engine was state of the art. She is the epitome of all speedboats.
Conceived as a yacht to appeal to yachtsmen of many tastes, the Sunseeker Predator 80 has sleek lines and an aggressive stance give the Predator power to draw the eye, but the details may be enough to keep it there. The standard layout will accommodate eight guests in four staterooms (plus a crew cabin in the stern that could easily be used for guests). The twin 16V 2000 M14 MTUs give the Predator a top speed of 45 knots.
